Dental Assistant Business

Start a Career as a Dental Assistant

No one likes going to the dentist, but we all have to from time to time. However, if you enjoy seeing others sweat through their dental exams, then one of the best careers for you can be that of a dental assistant. If you start up a dental assistant business, it will be up to you as the contractor for the dental company, to help dentists when they are doing surgeries and simple check ups with the patients of the area. You will be dealing with the mouths of other people, and you may see some gums and teeth you wish you had not, but it is a highly profitable business if you can get in it.

The Concept

Essentially, as a dental assistant you will be assisting the dentist in whatever they need when they are dealing with patients. It could be as simple as turning on the gas or simply being with the dentist while they perform a surgery. It is the type of job that someone who does not want to work in an office, but is interested in dentistry, would be perfect for.

Of course, it is not as easy as simply starting up as a dental assistant and doing what you can to help dentists. You actually have to get certified as a dental assistant, and that can cost a lot of money, especially when it is a degree. However, as a dental assistant who has their own business, you can expect to get a lot of business to offset the costs of the schooling because many dental offices are looking for anyone to help them when dealing with patients. Like nurses, dental assistants are worth their weight in gold, and it is up to you to profit off of that.

Startup Costs

Startup costs for this come directly from the schooling. You will pay over $1,000 for this, and as much as $10,000, however you should be able to make that money back quite easily through your dental assistant business. It is best to get yourself certified through any dental assistant associations in your area as this will help you become more legit in the eyes of the dental offices that you are hoping to do work for. Other than those costs, there is nothing else you really have to pay for, except for some books to keep up on information in the dental industry.

Marketing your Internet BusinessHow to Market It

This is one of those types of businesses that you can’t market in the newspaper. You don’t have your customers or clients come to you, you have to go to them. As a dental assistant, there is only one type of client you will have and that is dental offices, so make sure you market yourself directly to them. Establish connections, go to dental tradeshows and show them why you are the best option they have for dental assistants. Sell yourself and the money will come in before you even know it.
