Mischelle Smith started the Angel Company in 1997 after gaining experience in the stamping business with another direct sales company. She wanted to offer stamps that customers could utilize to make personal items as well as products for profit. Such companies had already earned the name "angel companies" before Smith opened for business. Smith's company sells "Creative Cling" stamps that come uncut and unassembled. Stampers cut out the foam-backed, rubber stamps and place them on an acrylic handle when they are ready to use them. The stamps are less expensive than traditional, wood-mounted stamps, and they can be stacked and stored in a smaller space. In addition to stamps, the company also sells original-design papers and stamping supplies.



Demonstrators for the Angel Company organize stamping parties where participants use stamps to create all kinds of artistic paper products. Customers can buy stamps and supplies at the parties or through the online catalog. Demonstrators earn 25% commission on party sales and receive a 30% discount on products. The starter kit costs $150 and contains over $300 worth of stamps and supplies. There are initial incentives for new demonstrators through the Perfect Start program, and monthly incentives for all demonstrators after that. Demonstrators must maintain $100 net retail sales over four months.
