based company was founded in 1991 by two college friends who wanted to bring
unique tableware products from artisans around the world into American homes.
Their items are sold through direct sales home parties, the internet, corporate
sales, and retail boutiques. The catalog offers plates, bowls, trays, and other
tableware and entertaining pieces made of ceramic, pewter, bamboo, melamine,
wood, and glass. There is also a line of table linens from northern France.
Other products come from Mexico, Italy, Portugal, North Africa, and Germany. The
founders have personal relationships with the artisans and are proud of the fact
that they pay fair prices for their merchandise.
Ella Style believes in a “soft-selling” approach to direct sales. Sales reps are
encouraged to let the products sell themselves. Reps earn up to 20% commission
on personal sales and up to 17% in bonuses on team sales. Sales reps are
encouraged to sell to corporations, real estate agents, caterers, and other
businesses. Ella style offers engraving on their pewter items and gift boxes for
corporate gifts. Both starter kits contain everything reps need to get started
in their businesses. The $275 Standard Sample Package costs $275 and has $550
worth of products, marketing materials, and display stands. The $150 Modified
Sample Package contains $300 worth of the same items that are in the standard
package.
