Heritage Makers
is a digital “storybooking” company that offers customers the opportunity to
create a personalized, hard-bound book with their photographs and individual
stories. The company was launched in 2000 under the name My Family Ties, and
they sold storybooking kits to retail stores. Times have changed drastically,
however, and Heritage Makers is now a growing direct sales group that utilizes
web based software for the storybook creation process. In 2006, Heritage Makers
partnered with Scrap Girls, a digital backgrounds and graphics company. Their
product line now includes cards, calendars, and posters as well as storybooks.
At Heritage Celebrations, consultants show product samples, give ideas, and
assist guests in creating their own, personalized products. There are two
starter kits to choose from. The Business Kit is $99 and contains two storybook
samples, training materials, and business supplies for the first party. The Demo
Kit contains everything in the Business Kit plus more product samples and
business materials. Consultants earn 20% commission on all personal Celebration
sales. They also have the opportunity to build a team and earn up to 22% of
their sales in addition to personal commissions, and there are no sales minimums
or requirements. There are monthly incentives designed to help consultants earn
free products, and there is an annual reward cruise for consultants who meet set
sales goals.
