Pampered Chef
has been providing customers with cooking supplies and kitchen tools since 1980.
This Illinois based company now has over 67,000 consultants in the United
States, Canada, the United Kingdom, and Germany. They offer cookware, bakeware,
stoneware, cutting tools, other kitchen tools, entertaining pieces, and a line
of trendy ceramic tableware called Simple Additions. They also have several
cookbooks and a selection of spices, seasonings, and bread mixes. Pampered Chef
cookbooks contain original recipes created in their own test kitchens and
specially designed to utilize Pampered Chef products. Products can be purchased
from the Pampered Chef website or from consultants.
The $155 starter kit contains $700 worth of products, business supplies, and
training materials. Pampered Chef cooking shows are hands-on demonstrations
where guests try out various products in the process of creating tasty treats,
which are then eaten at the end of the show. Consultants bring the products and
conduct the presentation, but hostesses provide the food used for the show.
Consultants earn between 20% and 25% commission, depending on sales volume.
There are also rewards for recruiting. Besides commissions, other rewards
include vacations, jewelry, and free products. There is a minimum sales
requirement of $200 every other month to stay active.
