The Taste of
Gourmet food mixes come straight from the kitchen of The Crown Restaurant in
Indianola, Mississippi. The restaurant’s founders launched their direct
sales company in 1996 to offer their tasty, Southern dishes to home cooks across
the country. They have 60 different products, including breads, desserts, meat
seasoning mixes, dip mixes, salsa mixes, and their exclusive smoked catfish
pate, to name a few. Each product is something that is served for lunch at the
award-winning Crown Restaurant, which has been featured on the Food Network and
in magazines like Southern Living and Bon Appetit. Taste of Gourmet products can
be purchased from consultants or through the company’s website.
The Taste of Gourmet founders believe that their products are best marketed by
hosting food tastings so customers can taste before they buy. The Consultant
Sample and Sales Kit contains business supplies, training tools, and a variety
of products to use at tastings. Taste of Gourmet gives consultants a “sample
allowance credit” that provides enough products to sample at tastings and to
enjoy at home. Consultants earn 25-35% commission, plus extra commissions on the
sales of recruits. All commission checks are mailed once a month. There is a
$100 sales minimum per month to remain active.
