WineShop at
Home was launched in 2001 as an extension of Napa Valley’s national wine
retailer 1-800-WineShop. John and Melissa Lynch started 1-800-WineShop in
1995 to fulfill their dream of sharing the wine country lifestyle with friends
and family. After a few years, they discovered that the home setting is the best
place to share the wine experience, and WineShop at Home was born. They now have
consultants in 18 states and can ship wine to 27 states. WineShop at Home offers
wines from Napa and Sonoma counties, Monterey and the Central Coast, and
Medocino and the North Coast. Their Wine Club gives customers the opportunity to
choose Premium wines and receive discounts on monthly orders.
Consultants begin
with a $135 business kit that contains professional wine tools, business
supplies, training materials, and a consultant website. The Fast Start program
allows consultants to earn back their investment. There are enough supplies for
the first parties in the business kit, but consultants must purchase
replenishments for subsequent parties. Commissions on personal sales are between
15% and 29%, depending on sales volume and recruitment. Consultants earn bonuses
and 3-5% commissions on downline sales when they sponsor a team. WineShop at
Home has annual conferences and retreats as well as a yearly vacation to
California wine country, all of which consultants can earn by meeting sales and
recruiting goals.
