Young Living
has been marketing products with essential oils ever since 1989, when founder
Gary Young started cultivating lavender and other herbs on a one-quarter acre.
Today, his company has over 2,000 acres, offices in four countries, and hundreds
of thousands of distributors sharing Young Living Essential Oils. They offer
pure essential oils, nutritional supplements, hair care, skin care, dental care,
and a line of products specifically designed for kids. They are known for their
NingXia Red wolfberry drink and their Raindrop Technique essential oil
application method. Products are sold exclusively through Young Living Essential
Oils distributors, including sales from distributors’ company websites.
All five of the
starter kits have product samples and business supplies. In addition to the
basic $40 kit, new distributors can choose from the $115 kit with essential
oils, the $159 kit with Thieves products, the $185 kit with Ningxia Red, or the
$275 Cleanse/Core Essentials kit with a Nutritive Essentials Pack and a Core
Essentials Pack. Distributors earn between 8% and 25%. They are not required to
recruit, but they do receive commissions for downline referrals. Young Living
Essential Oils holds an annual convention to educate and inspire distributors.
