Freelance Telemarketing Business

Start a Freelance Telemarketing Business

The truth is that no one seems to like telemarketers. They call at inopportune times and generally interrupt us. That being said, the telemarketers are only doing their job and they should not be shunned for that. As well, they provide a valuable service by conducting surveys, selling products and soliciting donations for worth causes.

For someone who wants to work from home and have their own business that they are in control of, this is the perfect type of job. It is also a great job if you love to talk to people and meet new people, albeit over the phone. This is why freelance telemarketer is becoming one of the most popular types of jobs available as a career these days.

The Concept

As a freelance telemarketer, companies will contact you when they want someone to call customers, clients, or random individuals for them. It will be your job to meet a certain quota each day, but you will be able to do this from your own home. They will provide you with the numbers to call, the information relating to the people you are calling and all the information related to what you are calling about. Some companies will require you to update them on a daily basis, while others will require that you only update them weekly.

The good thing about being a freelance telemarketer, is that you have the choice of who you work for, and how much you get paid. This is a significant advantage over other telemarketers, because they are often paid little for what they do. As a freelancer, you set the rates.

Naturally, this job is for those who are thick-skinned. There will be many people who do not want to talk to you because you are interrupting them, and for every ten people that are nice about it, there will be a couple who are quite rude.

Startup Costs

What startup costs?? That is pretty much what it comes down to. Except for the cost of your phone service and maybe a headset that you use for your calls, there are really no other costs associated with this type of business. All it is, is you calling numbers for a company, relaying information and providing your client with more sales, donations, or information. It is not unusual to see the start up costs of this job to be no higher than $50, so for those who want to work from home, without the high costs, this is the perfect career for them.

Marketing your Internet BusinessHow to Market It

This is where it gets difficult. You need to go to non-profit societies, polling companies and other telephone sales companies and convince them that not only should they hire you to work from your home, they should also pay you more than their in-house telemarketers.

Having a proven track record of success, and experience as a telemarketer will help a lot and possibly convince your potential clients to pick you over others. You need to make sure you deliver at this point. It is all about you proving yourself to them, not the other way around.
